What could characterize the work of Marie-Laure Delaby is an obsession
for what she calls « disconnected environments »; urban or social
microcosms that are relatively isolated from other realities.

Starting with night clubs and « non-places » as study cases, her interest
focuses on their temporality, or rather on their lack of temporality.
By removing elements that are linking them to our time-space, the image
starts to « float », to become « suspended in time» and to open new doors
of perception.

Following this process, she started working towards a transgression
of thevisual experience of media and space through the use of light,
painting, digital media and electronics. Whether it is question of
photo-liked paintings, painting-liked projections or augmented painting
interventions, her work becomes the receptacle of our imagination,
questioning the reality of the space, of the image and the experience
undergone.
